Default World Record Broken

Just thought i'd give you guys the heads up, world record has gone back to Luke Moffats "Graviers", with the Scarred fish going 89lb. Could be the first to go 90lb over winter.

I do know what you mean, but its still an amazing fish. Just the size of it is breathtaking, its frame is huge, and it carries weight well. But you are right, it is a freak.

carp shouldn't be that size. the reason i only fish for carp in this country (i won't open the true british debate) is because over here a northern 30 is a huge fish, nationwide a 40 is a big fish with 50s being huge and 60s the stuff of dreams. yet go to France and 50s are ten a penny which makes a 50lb carp seem much less special. Bloody orrible french freaks ewww!!!!!!!!!

Rant over.

Default Wrong Sport

Definatley some people are! I could not care less whether my fish are from France or England I fish in both. I have had some stunning 40,s and 50,s from France that would put a lot of English fish in the shade and likewise I have had 20,s and the odd 30 from England.

Dont be misled people fishing in France is far from easy I have spent many a week for only 1 fish. I fish large Government waters that are 150+ acres and every fish is a worthy capture and well earned. I also fish some of the larger commercial waters and have seen known anglers on the banks like Fairbrass, Paisley, lilley, Ajin Danau to name a few I doubt whether they would describe any of their fish as Ugly or not normal.

There seems to be a lot of elitism in the world of carp fishing ie French fish dont count because they aint English! leave it out Guys go and try and Catch a French 50 and see how difficult it is before you start making uninformed decisions.

After all we Carp fish for the enjoyment and we are all entitled to our opinion thats all I am saying and I would never put someone down or ridicule them or their captures its their choice where they fish and I for one think french fishing is far more enjoyable than here.

Well said mate its no freak its not genetically engineered or anything..If two tone goes 65+ why is a French fish in warmer climates such a shock at 89+...its just nature...lots of creatures are the same attaining larger sizes in more favourable environments...I wouldnt mind that 'freak' on my mat....
Its all down to genetics ok these fish are selectively bred to attain greater weights but if it wasnt for this over 100's of years we'd all still be catching 4lb wildies..!!!!..

if anything this fish just shows the hardiness and potential of carp in general as it was tethered up for some time in the past and look at it now...Frank Warwick caught it at 56 i think about 4 years ago..its like the amphibian from manor in essex...that now nearly goes 60 and it too dropped to 28 if my memory serves me correctly because it too was tethered up for a while.

Some people need to engage their brains before jumping on an argument. Jeez. When i said it was a "freak", i meant that in the way it is clearly out growing the other fish in the same water, dispite its history. Don't forget that this fish wasn't expected to live after the rope was cut away from it, so great were its injuries. I have nothing but awe for this fish, and i can only dream of it gracing my mat next year (fingers crossed!).
