Default 6-8 workmates after decent french carp lake

Hi, we are all talking about going France next year and unsure where to go, we would like to get a pool to ourselves for a week but of course don't want to pay a fortune. Ideally we'd like to fish a water which isn't choked in weed, which isn't too big and not more than 3 hours from a ferry terminal, also a place which will allow 3 or 4 rods. Need access to showers and hopefully cooking equipment and electric. A place without silly rules as it would be a social as well as being serious. Most lads haven't had fish over 20lb so would like a place with some good fish in with a good chance of a 40lb for the more experienced lads. Any thoughts lads? have you been anywhere fitting this bill? 1 of the lads is talking about Red Mill, can anyone shed any light on any decent waters. Cheers ps hoping to go in late Sept

I know it doesn't tick all the boxes you've listed. but for the amount of money I would fish Etang De Vaumigny. Check out the reports in the foreign catch reports under Vaumigny and French captures.

Its a 4 1/2 hour drive from Calais, nearly all on the motorways, driving at night is easy.
There is a shower, fridges and charging points on the lake.
The fishing is straight forward but you must know how to deal with poisson chats.
There is no weed, but a few swims have snags in them.
Last September there were only 4 on - us and 2 Dutch guys.
The lake is about 30 acres.
Boats are not needed, a good throwing stick and pain killers for the arm ache are.
The French owner, Frank, generally lets you get on with it, just don't overdo the leaving of rods.
The road bank swims 1 through to 7 must be the best social swims going, you can park next to them and its easy to keep in contact with each other.

The fishing can be superb. Last September me and Mutley caught 75 fish, this June, 28. The average weight is between 23 and 25 lbs with loads of fish between 25 and 30. It is unusual not to catch a 30. 40s are quite rare but they are there - see the pictures in the catch report section.

Bait - Most fish tigers and particles. I prefer to use Mistral boilies. The euro range work superb, as do Rosehip. Boilies must be hard and the hookbaits meshed to prevent the chats robbing the bait off the hair.

Cost. If fishing boilies you will need anout 20 to 25kgs. If using Mistral its possible to do the whole trip for about £400. This includes ferry, petrol from the north of England, tolls, bait and the lake which costs 200 Euros (£140). If you need any more info just ask.
