I doubt it too, but that's probably what the Swiss anglers said a couple of years ago.

It has applied in Germany for a number of years now (in theory). You can't just buy a license there either, until you have passed your fishing test.

The reason being that it is stressful to fish to catch them and then return them to the water. Better to knock them on the head to stop any further suffering.


The new Swiss law makes it obligatory for anglers to take lessons before being granted a fishing license.
As Germany has done for several years now, and it wouldn't do any harm in the UK either.

Agree with the lessons its def a good idea especially with the new Breed of Instant Carp Anglers that are turning up on a lot of waters " All the Gear and no Idea "

Dont know how it could be funded though as I can see them wanting to pay for it..can you? but then again if it was a Law they would have no choice.
