Default Winter fishing in france

Anybody going over this winter...I am off in 2 weeks but undecided yet as to where, but I do find this time of year to be very good over there.

I remember going to a place called the island lake about 5 years ago at his time of year, and we had several fish to just under 40lb. I then went to Lac De Lesmont just before Christmas of the same year and i didnt even see a fish, let alone catch one, it never even got above freezing point all the time i was there i reckon!!
I'm off to Mr Fairbrass's lake in 2 weeks myself. He's brought St Christophe, and as it's around 20ft deep, Dan reckons it fishes well into the depths of winter as long as the bait keeps on going in. I think the thing to do, is do plenty of research and pick a venue that has a good track record of doing a few fish in the colder months, that should make your choice a lot easier.

Morgard lake fishes well in winter...fish to 60+ and lakeside cottages to stay in too....
Not expensive to fish there...cottage no. 1 is the one to be in during colder months...fish from the garden down towards the damm end....

One thing to consider is that many area's of France can see lakes frozen over for quite long periods in the winter. Central France in particular gets very cold so best to concentrate on the more northern venue's where the weather is more like Southern England. If the lake owner feeds his carp throughout the winter then they will stay more active than if left to their own devices.

Hi Iain I have fished St Christophe a few times and I think its the guy that owns ECG in Holland that has bought the lake and not Fairbrass as i have just received a mail from a Dutch Mate re this happening and I have attached a link to the ECG website showing their Latest News and Booking Info, Rules etc for Christophe. Nieuws over vissen op karper bij St Christophe

According to the info its them thats purchased it either that or its a Wind-up or they could be in partnership with Fairbrass???etc so I am trying to find out some more info and will let you know how I get on and if you have any info let me know as i am planning a trip early Jan.

Iv read on a fair few forums that it is indeed Fairbrass has bought the venue..

Rich it also tells you on the AnglingLines website, who used to take the bookings for the venue..

He intends making a few changes to the place over the coming year.
Same here but when you go to the link the guy on there says he is opening as the owner from 2009, theres rules, stocking plans etc etc, says you can still book through Angling Lines etc so somewhere theres a bit of Confusion.

But my Dutch mate reckons the OCG Guys dead straight and would not be putting that claim on his site unless he had done the deal. We will just have to wait and see I suppose.
