The better companies/venues offering consistent quality in service and fishing over the years have built their success on repeat business and growth through word of mouth from satisfied customers.
These won't be the ones trying to attract customers with heavily discounted trips so would stick with the established venues rather than risk the unknown. |

Judging by bookings we have already recieved for next year the credit crunch does not seem to have effected things to much. Having said that I do think that the family man may find it difficult justifying a carp holiday if things are tight at home. There is no doubt that the market is becoming more and more competitive with new venue's popping up all the time but it must be remembered that we all need a minimum income to survive and owning a French fishery is certainly no way to get rich. Those with a real passion for their venue will prosper in a more difficult climate but those that look upon it a nice little earner will probably drop by the wayside.

I have been 4 times this year and each time the Ferrys Cheaper! So it looks like they are trying to entice people to book. Just looking now for November and I can do Return Trip for £51 and thats witrh a Van!
I can see some of the more expensive all in venues possibly losing some trade but the Drive and Survive probably wont suffer at all infact my mates lake was fully booked for 2009 as early as August this year and not just internet bookings as they have all paid deposits as well! If things get tight theres always the Government waters as the Catre De Peche is under £50 and its valid for 12 months.

Well I would have thought that most of the ones that are booked onto my mates for example will bwcause he asks for 50% up front and they,ve all paid but I suppose if they dont pay the rest he could offer the slots at half price and half price he could easily fill the place up.
But maybe the ones who only take 10% could be at risk with a load of last minute empty swims but I would have also thought that a lot of the guys who go are regulars so the last thing they would want to do is put themselves in a position whereby they could never return to the lake because they never turned up. I think the real Holiday problem will be the Long Haul Destinations like Austraila or USA Etc as I can see their bookings being well down.

Every business I go in have never been busier they are banged out and breaking records from last year......strange, a lot of these businesses work with borrowed money for multi million pound projects, it defies all that is being reported in the news. I think personally the credit crunch will only affect us if a bank goes tits up then we may loose our jobs or savings other than that the only way I can see us having it hard is if the government bang up taxes to recoup the money they have spent.

I spoke to a friend that is a bailiff at a lake the other side of Le Mans....he said that next year has hardly any UK anglers booked on there....but it is very busy with Dutch and Belgian bookings..!
Maybe they aren't feeling the squeeze as much as we are here? |

I wonder how the present world financial crisis will actually impact on the ordinary carper ?? Unless he is looking to move house or has lost his job I really cannot see how he will be adversely effected. Interest rates have actually just dropped so mortgages are not going up so for most lads I really cannot see a problem. We have already got around 50% more firm bookings from UK anglers for 2009 than we had this time last year for 2008. Regarding the Dutch and Belgium anglers it usrt be remembered that they will suffer the same, if at all, from the financial problems. Unless things get far, far worse then I expect the travelling carper to visit France as much as ever.
