Default Junior Teach-In

I tried to arrange one of these myself for VBAS but was beaten by a frozen lake. I am planning to re-schudule for the spring but to be honest I feel under-qualified and think we should look at the bigger picture. I.E. A Northern Monkeys Junior Teach In Event. I'm sure that there is enough knowledge between us all to give the much needed education to the new-comers to the sport and I for one can provide a pool to use. I suppose we need the opinion of Jules and the mods to see if NM can do this???

As thoughtful it is to put education of the young uns to mind unfortunately I fear you will get snarled up in a forest of red tape, due to anything involving kids nowadays will involve liability insurance as well as vetting of your potential police record history etc, such is the state of our world today...

A shame really,I looked into doing a few 'lessons' a couple of years back just to point out fish safety and welfare in general to a few local kids but was advised against following it up for fear of being sued in case someone fell in or got a hair rig caught in their ear.

The only way I can forsee any trouble prevention is to ask the adult of the child to attend and get them to sign some for of disclaimer, but by doing this you are emphasising the possibilty of something bad happening and therefore discouraging people from attending.

Good luck with it should anyone pursue it anyway...
