Still got, and use the original 4500 seaspins. Line lay is awfull unless you use 8lb mainline, but I used these to cast well over 100yds, along with my Rod Hutchinson Horizons, which I also still have, awesome casting rods. In fact with a Long Cast and 3oz lead I reckon I could still cast as far as I'd ever need with these. Rods are relegated to the Garage now though, in favour of much newer, slimmer rods. My fave ever rods were the old Tricast ER 8-15, nother reat casting rod, despite being much softer than the modern stuff. Was doing the cast across the middle of Roman in about 87 or 88 with these...right under the hedge, beautful!!
Sorry about that, I was back there for a minute, by the way, whilst i'm on, anyone got a bail roller and fixing screw for one of my old Seaspins, It worked loose and fell off in the Summer, Shimano haven't got one.

Anyone still got, or remember the carbomatic GT4000. Came out same time as the seaspins. Bigger spool than the seaspin from memory, and had a fighting drag instead of a baitrunner; rear drag with a little lever above the drag ****. My mate bought the carbomatic when i got the seaspins, they were actually better reels for casting, i remember wishing i'd bought them.
Any remember?

Got my old seaspin fixed, Sent it to Shimano, who did have spares cause the bail 'is' the same as the 4500b's. Cost me £16 posted for a service and the repair. They'll be on my softer rods and back out of retirement now, can't be doing with them little double handle things, and the spools are bigger in diameter. No idea why they changed that, spool diameter is about the same as a 10000.
