At the risk of upsetting a few purists, the cane thing is interesting ( but invariably top heavy) the ultimate experience is found with the 70's glass fibre rods...balance and feel are well provided for.... coupled with a centrepin for directness, glass fibre's forgiving nature...leads to the most rewarding angling experience...
The heritage angle is worthy but in the midst of technological advance lies a solution available on e-bay for cheapish money and the rewards are great.
