Ive been looking into gettin a ticket to fish the river , ive found various controlling clubs . Can anyone recommend which section /club to join .Ideally looking for a stretch that you can night fish with good safe parking and a good head of fish to go at .CHEERS

Also take a look at Prince Albert A.S. - PAAS and RADAC have a waiting list but worth getting your name down on either.

Southport ( Church Deeps ) and Wigan/St Helens ( Elston Lane ) have a NO NIGHT FISHING policy. Southport you have to be off at dusk ( a real pain in the winter if you fancy a few hours after work - it's a no go! ) Wigan you have to be off by 11pm so at least for most of the year you can do a couple of hours into darkness.

you pay the farmer at elston for access to the bank , the fishing rights are nothing to do with the farmer they belong to the church.wigan turn a blind eye to overnighting at elston to keep on the right side of the farmer, all you do is pay a fiver instead of the £2 and as long as your not driving through his yard during the night hes sound

Default ribble

Ave fished the WAA stretch for a couple of years. fraid it's all or nothin. I had one good session (5.30am - 9.30am) as I had a meetin to go to in Preston thats the only reason I went. Ad about 12 barbel up to 7lb lost about 4 and ad a couple of sea trout (all on stick float double maggot). Sods law when you get on the fish you can't make the most of it. You really need the pa ticket as they have got all the best stretches especially the post office stretch

You can fish at Dewhurst farm near Ribchester bridge and in ribchester centre on day ticket over night.
Spar at ribchester for the town centre stretch and at Dewhurst farm for the farm stretch.
Think both are £5 for 24 hours.
You can also fish for free on the opposite bank to church deeps over night. Bit of a walk but just the same as anywhere else on the Ribble. Park at the shaw arms. though I dont know how safe cars are in that area as its many years since I fished it.
Parking on many parts is "pay the farmer" as is WAA and Wigan, st helens and also southport if the road is full.

Beware if you walk up stream on to the WAA stretch without a season ticket as you WILL be moved, Plenty of us WAA bailiffs on the river.

Oh and if you are night fishing WAA length, you'll need a night card as well and be booked on. Neither of these and the bailiffs will, ref WAA rules, ask you to pack up within an hour of dark.
