Default carp on the pole

hi all finally getting back out! only managed an afternoon but hey it's fishing, went to a fairly new commercial water in dunham massey as it's only down the road. had 3 baby mirrors and my first ever barbel! on the tip road fishing maggot feeder with meat on the hair, and bagged up with small roach and a small carp on my pole (which was bought for placing rigs under trees in snaggy swims! but thought i would have a bash and see what this pole fishing lark is about, good fun, ut i won't do it full time )

I enjoy a bit of pole fishing myself and I've fished Dunham a few times. My biggest carp on the pole was just under 10 pound, great fun.

yeah but it puts your heart in you mouth about 20 times every 5 minutes while you are playing it for but it feels great when you do land the lump barring the total exhaustion and the adrenalin shakes ..lol

Hooked by accident while tench fishing had very strong elastic on 18s and after 2 runs i got its head above water it took a gulp of air and practically swam into the net put it back and held it in the margins for a few mins swam off no probs caught it again on conventional carptackle about 6 weeks later so it was ok .
The pole has never seen the light of day since think it ended up on the tip when the shed got cleared out .
Heart stopping action while its happening but as you say Phil its not fair on the fish to in some cases have to play them to a stand still/total exhaustion which is also not safe
