Default For a quid report

The forecast for a hard frost was for once correct, unfortunately.

By the time I'd got round to sorting some bits and pieces to throw in the car, I'd already done an impression of Alan Titchmarsh. I'd promised the missus to make her 'raised bed' for her new found enthusiasm in gardening. Obviously what I made wasn't quite right, the soil having too much clay and a whole host of other things that were out of my control. (All being my fault).

Enough of that nonsense, time to get out.

I really should have known how the day was going to pan out when arriving at the River a flotilla of canoeists were frothing the water up round Cheadle Bridge. By the time I had unloaded the car they had disappeared, got to the gate and tried to unlock it to find that it had seized. Only one thing for it, a rather ungraceful scale of the bridge and I was Riverside.

Looking at the first few swims and depositing a few free samples as I went I'd noticed that the banks looked like they'd not received any visitors for a good while. I pressed on finally arriving at the last peg on my list. 30 fruitless minutes later I decided to up sticks and set off back to the pegs that had been primed.

These too proved less than productive, one resulting is something that may have been a 'tap'. The last swim before the bridge reached and it wasn't going well. A rustle in the undergrowth behind me made me trun round but I couldn't see anything. Hearing it again a minute or so later had me turning again to see a rather large Mink investigating my bag. As I noticed it, it noticed me and proceeded to make hissing noises at me before speeding off on its way. 30 minutes later my allocated time was up and it was time to head for the car.

An almost customary winter blank on the River, I'm not sure I could have tried much more to try and force a bite to be honest. But even though the trip hadn't gone to plan, it was good to be out. The Sun had accompanied me on the whole trip out too which made for a refreshing change. Not the ideal conditions, far from it but the last session on the running stuff may have to be in the cold of night. So there's something to look forward too .

Thanks for reading.

So, you had one hours actual fishing. How long did that take you from start to finish, plus extra time buying bait and writing about it?

Better luck next time, you have a week to produce the goods.

No Manager, that would be a short session even by my standards .

Fished four swims in total, three had a few free samples while the fourth was fished 'cold'. Half an hour (ish) in each barring the last swim that I gave an hour.

Bait was prepped the day before, liquidised bread left in the fridge overnight.
