Wouldnt be surprised pal , salmon have been recorded on the mersey in the traps at the wier in warrington for a good few years now .They have been spotted on the bollin jumping the wier over the last few years also . The EA have recently finished the construction of a fish pass at heatley wierpool to help them on there travels upstream ..

If all that you read here is true:

Salmon back in the Mersey - News - South Manchester Reporter

there's no reason for them not to be in the Tame and the Goyt.

Below, link to Salmon caught on Camera on the Mersey at Warrington.

Great link Mark, nice one!

I've spent a fair few hours Salmon watching on the Ribble this season! Some whoppers too - entertaining if nothing else, but it does seem that when the Salmon are in the other species are less inclined to feed? Anyone else experienced that?

Highlight of the season so far was a mate of mine literally bricking it when an 18lb 'tourist' grabbed his boilie as he retrieved for another cast! They certainly know how to put up a fight! Imagine if carp jumped 6' in the air during a fight!

There is no fight put up by any fish that is as extreme as the fight a large salmon gives so powerful and so fast it can be heart stopping

I think you mean the goyt at bredbury and yes there are salmon running through the goyt, but the tame does not because of the massive weir in reddish vale , stopping them. Hope thet helps.

There is a pretty huge weir at Northernden for them to get past 1st . Ive seen salmon get up and over some big waterfalls with comarative ease just need enough water .

The EA have kindly put in a ladder for them there, but I'm sure they'd be able to get up there regardless.

I've seen weirs with fish ladders where the salmon simply ignore the ladder and go up and over the main weir or falls

Wink

The one in reddish vale park is over 30 feet tall, with no ladders. So thats a big weir to get over and never seen any attempt it to be honest.
