Default "Burbel"

Hi All,

Just got back from an awesome night on the Dove. Conditions couldn't have been more perfect, with the river having a little more water and colour than normal, after the last few days' rain.

We arrived 8.15pm, and first chuck, a good positive knock on my mates rod, but to no avail. Minutes later into the second cast on the edge of dusk, the rod is nearly ripped off the rest and my mate, (aka The Edge) is into his first ever Barbel. After a 20-minute battle he had his first ever barbel on the surface for the net, to which I obliged by slipping it under a PB 9lb 5oz Stunner.

I decided to stick with the meat hookbait (as opposed to the boilies) and around 11pm a Barbel picked up my bait within about 4 feet of the bank. After another muscle-strainign fight, the net was under a PB for myself, a nice 8lb 8oz specimen.

......mmmmm slime

Must have forgotten to reply with my last catch, had a right good night the other night!

Ended up having two Barbel, 8lb 7oz, and 8lb 6oz (not quite a PB ) and two Chub of 3lb 12oz, and 3lb 8oz.

Again, they were ideal conditions and I fished the same spot, it looked right with the conditions and seemed to do the trick; on the crease between fast water and almost neutral water in around 3 or 4 foot. The river was rising and it was hammering down with rain as we were there - but all good fun when you're catching

Did yesterday with my mate on a guest ticket, still a bit of colour and looking good though did rise a little while we were there and started to push through a bit more. Looking at the rain today may be on the up still.

My mate had 6 chub to almost 4lb, one barbel just under 7lb and lost 2 barbel.
I had 6 chub, couldn't seem to tempt any barbel this time. Didn't mind though, 2 of the chub were over 4lb with the best going 4 1/2lb, 2 were nudging 4lb and the other 2 around the 3lb mark so were all good fish
