back on last night

got my 1 bite at 7.45pm

nice fish of just under 9lb that thought it was a pike with the tail walking it was doing!

very cold night , had frost on the gear at 8pm but it lifted , just about , when the cloud came over

im really enjoying the challenge of this river , its doing something right to keep me coming back

never been to alton towers ?

to be honest its not the prettiest looking place , the area is reasonably flat , so all you see is the odd hill ets , so i can think of much more picturesque rivers

but hte river itself gives you the up close and personal feeling

never mind mate, there's always next time...
the added bonus that a 16lb 14oz fish came out of the Dove the other week. not sure what stretch though, something to keep you interested at least.

Still to bank my first one yet, not been since my last report but the upgraded tackle has arrived and I'm itching to give it another whirl, maybe get a few hours next weekend.

Been on today, looked good, slightly up and a bit of colour. No barbel though

Scaled down for a few hours in the afternoon and went on the quivertip for the chub, managed four to 3lb-ish inbetween blanking for barbel so not all bad

do you think the barbel may be 'binge feeding' kev ?

feeding hard for a while then nothing for a day or so ?
maybe when there is extra colour and water then chilling when its on the way down

this could explain the lack of fish over the weekend , where i fished there were 5 including me , 3 for sure didnt have any barbs , cant say about the other 2

Fished with my mate today, only us on and tried 4 "good" swims between us for nothing. The level didn't drop much at all but doesn't look too far off what I would say was normal, maybe 6 inch or so at the most, could just see the bottom in about a foot of water. Was mild as well, so was feeling fairly confident one of us would have some action.

Hadn't really thought about them feeding hard for a few days previous, makes sense though and was hoping the level would have been up a bit more tbh as it seems to bring the fish much closer to the bank on the swims we fished. Can't be pressure as the banks didn't look as if they had been fished for a while.
