Is that how heavy you need to go Chesh? I'm new to this barbel game but I have would have a heart attack just looking at a 5oz lead never mind using it on my 1.5lb rod???

depends how fast its pushing through or whether your fishing the slack water i think!

i have got 4oz grippers at the moment and they can hold the shallow swims fairly well.. i am using a 1 and 3/4lb carp rod though..

i remember reading an article from a guy on the kennet and he was using 6oz leads in flood water lol...

just checked the environment agency website again and theres no flood warning for fauld and scropton

Still looked a couple of feet up this morning but very fishable, if it doesn't put much down tomorrow it could be good for the weekend

got here about 4 ish yesterday , fished till 11.30pm

river was maybe 2ft up , temp was up a fraction again , still a bit of colour , and falling very very slowly

managed 6 chub , but no barbs

probably next week now before i get back

went for a few hours yesterday and blanked.. river was thinning out nicely... didnt get a touch though bad times

took junior with me and she was interested in the horses and donkeys more than anything lol...

had a few hours last night on a very cold river

managed a small barb of about 6 1/2 maybe 7lb , so it wasnt a complete waste

really cold late on in the fog

Passed over the river on the A50 on Wednesday morning early doors, looked really good in the early sunshine as it burned the mist off. Have noticed that the nights are getting much cooler now, not a bad way to spend the evening though Stu and a fish as well
