Default Another early star tomorrow report

True enough my daughter woke a couple of times before we were due out to ask if it was time to go fishing yet! Eventually she managed to go off...

The alarm woke me and a rather disgruntled missus at 4.30am then again at 4.45... May have to start sleeping downstairs for the early morning sessions, but the bed's just too comfy.

Anyway after banging about in the cellar fr 10 minutes or so everything was ready to go. My daughters speech was akin to someone who been out all night on speed. Don't think she paused for breath for the first twenty minutes. Thoughts of a trip to the Tame were put on hold after a good 'drop' of rain in the night, so instead it was a short walk round the corner to Syke's. Just couldn't justify the risk of may daughter falling in for the sake of my preferred type of fishing.

Set the youngster up first with a 12 foot match rod and a small waggler, threw a few maggots round her float and turned my back to get my whip out of the rod bag. 'Dad, I've got one', turning round to see her furiously reeling in a small roach. The float hit the top eye and she still kept reeling in, I was half expecting the horrible noise of cracking carbon (enough to make you sick to the stomach it you've experienced it) but managed to stop her in the nick of time. So after quickly unhooking it out she went again, didn't bother getting up this time which was a good job as as soon as the float had settled it dipped and went under again. Fish number two a really tiny Perch.

So with my gear not even out of the bag Idecided to concentrate on what she was doing. The next few casts were all a bit of a let down as she missed the forthcoming bites. A few later and she was into a small skimmmer, then another, then another, then another. By the time I'd managed to set anything up she was 'well ahead'.

I managed quite a few in an hour and a half, only small ones but my day had already been made and it wasn't even time for breakfast. 8.30 and the matchmen arrived for the match on Sykes No.2. Put it this way, I could hear them before I saw them. A couple came round to see what was going on and were more than a little surprised to see may daughter happily fishing away.

'It's been fishing crap here hasn't it' one said... I just looked at my daughter with a wry smile while she turned round and told him how many she'd caught.

Price of a matchmans gear circa £4,000
Price of a pint of maggots £2.50 ish
Going fishing with my daughter PRICELESS

Here's a couple of shots of her and some she caught

Thanks for reading

Hmmm, hopefully she'll remember it that way too???

Got a feeling that if they all (the three kids) get into it, it'll cost me a fortune. My wife'll probably divorce me. Saying that though, it'll give her more time to go shopping (that's her hobby).

As for changing swims, they'd be no chance of that!

drynetter junior had a crack at the whip and her first go on the 'tip'. Think she liked the waggler best as when she tried the whip she said 'where's the reel?'

I'm not letting her near a pole yet, she'll crucify me!

Half the job's done, get him to the bank, then it's just a question of 'watch my gear, I've just gotta nip back to the car' hide in the bushes and see what he does!

He won't be able to resist.

I couldn't see the day I just jacked it in, you'd have to cut my arms and legs off or any other appendages that stick out from my body

Great write up drynetter - always enjoyable to read. Keep them coming!

Sounds like you both had an enjoyable day out. Nice to see at least one person on this forum smiles when they catch a bream!!!

Mike.

Cheers Kermit, try and do my reports more on the fact side of things.

As Roy Walker of Catchphrase fame used to say "say what you see"

As long as people are willing to read them, I'll keep posting.

Don't really see the point in me telling everyone what brand of hooklength, what brand of float and hook pattern etc... Fish that get to the bank are more important than that to be honest.

Smiles on my daughters face speak louder than words.
