Just Got Back!
Just landed from a hectic couple of days down at Linear Fisheries.
Started Sunday afternoon on Oxlease and by Tuesday afternoon i'd had a grand total of 1 @ 13lbs. By this point confidence was shot and i was considering coming back home to Capes.
Had a look at Brasenose 1 and the wind was blowing hard into the far ( and i mean "f"in FAR) bank where only the compleatly insane would consider lugging all their gear too. Anyway after poping 3 hernias and a long hour later i'd got my gear to the far bank. Another hour or so later and i'd got my bivvy up. I **** you not it was like a force 5 hurricane in my face!! My fronteir had to be took from out of the trees 3 times!
PVA bags on the rods and they were given a mighty chuck, 40 yards i got because of the wind! By this point i was on the brink of crying, effot = reward my **** was all that i was muttering! Then it all happened.................. beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep, 1st fish. as i was setting the rod after re-casting off the second rod rips, It was like that for a while and in the space of 3 hours i'd banked 20 fish! The wind dropped and like a light switch it went dead. Next morning bit of wind and here i went again. 5 pm wednesday night and i'd done 41 fish! At about 11.00pm last night i had a screamer which turned out to be the biggest of the trip for me at 22.8. Woke up this morning and started fishing proper at 7.30am on 42 fish. I made the desision to start packing up after i hit the half century. 1 hour later the bivvy was down and i retired on 52 fish.
Not a bad result for 36 hours fishin!!
Ended up with 3 20's to 22.8, about 3 or 4 between 17 and 19lbs and the rest ranged between 8lbs and 15lbs.
If your after a hectic day or two in the closed season i recommend Brasenose 1 for a bend in your rods. The fish in there go to about 26lbs and there are 16 originals which are thought to be upper 20's.
Couple of pics to, there were some stunning fish with excellent scale patterns.
