Default Shakerly Mere

Just got back from my first 'proper' session this year. No more pasty bashin for me. It's started pretty good havin mirrors of 16lb 14oz and a 25lb 6oz. I was told by the bailiff that the water was fishing hard so I was ecstatic with these. Bring on Astbury this Friday

Here's a quick description of the session. Me and my cousin got there about half an hour after sunrise. We had a quick look at Boundary water park (just down the road) but decided Shakerly was a better bet. As we pulled in the car park we spotted some fish bubbling from the car. We checked the rest of the lake and saw not much else so i had the car park swim (peg 13) and my cousin had 4 pegs to my right where the bubbles were slowing moving towards. I had the 17 from exactly where the fish were bubbling just out in front of me. To back up my thread on tackle tarts, I cast the rods out before setting up the pod and had the run just as i had put the rod on the pod. The bubbling moved off towards my cousin then and he had a take himself but didn't connect. About 2 o'clock there were no signs of fish anywhere but from past experiences i guesssed they were the other side of my cousin so moved 2 pegs the other side of him (near the small island). About 2 hours later my pop-up rod had a take and the 25lb'er did everything it could to take me under a tree. By the time i landed it i even had a bit of an audience
I don't really intend to fish shakerly that much because i've done it before and I like the idea of Astbury this year. But i'll always go back from time to time because its just one of them waters that can throw up anything. Thats about it really. Did i say a quick description oh well

Night fishing is only allowed on a night ticket but i fished it a lot about 3 years back and all my fish with the exception of one (a previous capture of the 17lb'er) all came in daylight hours. Yesterday, I payed 6 quid for the day which is ok value for money for the odd session plus Lymm isn't that expensive anyway when you consider the other waters they've got
