Default long shank nailers

Hi all,

i've been using longshank nailers for a while now with a lot of success and catching on them when all my other rigs failed.

what i am asking is why are so many lakes against them?

i know they are a progression of the bent hook rig, but i thought they were invented as a safe alternative to bent hooks, so whay do so many places ban them?

Cheers

Andy

Not intirely sure myself on this one.

I am just wondering if it is to do with 'double hooking', or just general mouth damage that people think they cause.

Well all my experiences with them have *never* caused any damage at all.

The bottom rig is the 'bent hook' rig. It's a rig that incorporates a very long shank fly fishing 'lure' hook thats bent in the middle, nasy rigs... As andy s said in the first post, it's how the long shank nailer was sporned!(which IMO is NOT a safe alternative.)

Default nailers

have used these hooks for years an in my opinion theres nowt wrong with them, have never double hooked a fish an have never seen any severe mouth damage. ray dale smith gave me an miffa some with swivels on to try ages before they were available to buy, an they were crackin hooks when used on stiff rigs[either pop ups or bottom baits] only probs i,ve ever seen [and the reason they were banned on sotas ]was when they were used through the swivel on the 360 degree rig personly i think the rig stinks and any advantages you think your gaining are far,far outweighed by the rigs disadvantages!! ie fish damage.By far the best rig i,ve used is the simple combi-link created with snakeskin it catches everywhere an is a safe standard rig.
