Default Outlaw XS Spod & Marker rods

Hi
has anyone used either of these rods or know if they are any good? I've managed to get by the last few years without a spod or marker rod but now feel that with the waters i am planning on fishing that they will be vital!! I've found a deal on a website which is selling the spod and marker rods together for £65 which i dont think is bad, especially as i'm a bit skint!! The test curve on the spod rod is 3.5 or 3.75lb i think, would this be capable of casting a spod a fair distance? To be honest most the waters i'm planning on fishing wouldnt really require a massive cast (accept maybe astbury!) but it would be nice to know that the rod was capable of doing so if needed.

Any info will be much appreciated.

Cheers.

Hi james, i have a outlaw spod rod, the original one. I think its 4lb test curve. I can put a loaded korda spod 100 yards with it. ( i use diawa emblem big pit reels on the spod and marker)
I dont mind spending money on rods and reels to catch fish on mine are diawa infinities which are the best rods ive personally used, but i saw little point in paying silly money for a broom stick to heave spods out on. My marker rod is an old fox rod 3lb test, does the job.

That sounds a very good deal to me.

hi james i think 3.75t.c will handle small spods but the larger ones would'ent like to say,i got the fox warrior spod 5.5t.c £50 and that can stop a bus as the marker goes i use an old 2.5tc rod. hope that helps

have to disagree, 3.75 will be fine for most spods, thats a powerful rod. the 4lb tc seems a bit heavy with the korda skyliner at times. I used to use a 3lb harrison back in the redesmere days and that was ok chucking the "anglers workshop boiile rocket" with 8x18mils topped up with water a fair old way.

Has anyone used the Wychwood Rogue spod rod? these have a 4lb TC opposed to the outlaw XS 3.5lb TC and are about the same price.

Cheers.
