Default bedchairs

is it just me or are we obsessed with bedchairs i am always looking at ways to tackle down and it seems to always be the bedchair thats so bloody bulky and fills half of your barrow does anyone use matrasses or inflateable beds i'm not on about for a quick overnighter but for 48 hours or more i no there low and would be a bit awkward sitting on but surely getting rid of so much bulk it has to be worth considering

i've often thought about this. bedchairs are a nightmare on quick overnighters or for a roving approach. click the link below for an idea on an alternative matey. might not be to comfortable but would eliminate the bulk.

I think its a comfort thing and force of habbit that we always take our bed chairs . For days i usually just take a folding guest chair . Never go near a bed chair during the day as i would just doze/kip all day and then be wide awake all night with every sound putting me on edge or sit there looking at the moon with my imagination running away with me

Many moons ago before my meagre pittance could fund luxuries such as a bedchair I used those roll up camper mat things, trust me you will think its a great idea to take one instead of a bedchair for about two nights and then knock the idea on the head when your back locks up from the cold and damp off the ground. Not to mention rodents sniffing round your kype and lack of storage under the bed...

There are numerous lightweight yet comfy beds knocking about, they don't all have to be three foot wide and bigger than your bedroom furniture.

I've got a stealth 3 leg bed for longe sessions and have whipped off the third leg to save a bit of bulk/weight and also have an x lite 3 leg which is a smaller version and perfectly adequate for 48 hours, weighs 6kg ish.

I did one overnighter last year, forgot my bedchair, but got out my work jacket, a spare fleece, car mats, everything soft I could find in the car.
I did get a good nights sleep, but it's weird being only 1/2" off the ground.
An inflatable camping bed would be more comfortable than a bedchair, but no good for sitting on.....too low, and as Oli said, those mice etc are at eye level....not nice.

Stick to the bedchair, make 2 journeys if need be, it's what feet are meant for.

Before I got a bedchair, I used a camp bed. Not really the most comfortable thing to sit on but I used to sit outside the bivvy all the time anyway until I went sleep so didn't bother me. It was really compact and practicle, packed away to the size of a bankstick but obviously abit heavier. Perfect for a quick overnighter!
