braided mainline

o.k lads i've purchesed some braid and after the last thread all notes were taken, except 1 how do i know when i have filled around 170 yrds on each reel?

I think you can get a line counter mate but not sure I'm lucky I have a big field behind my house which is ideal for measuring up line/braid etc......so find a big field..lol...

i've got the big feild behind my house but it's dark out now and work for the rest of the week,and i'm fishing saturday

get 2 bankstick place 5 yards apart tie the braid to one bankstick then walk back and forth wrapping the braid round the sticks until you`ve reached the required distance.

Then fall over from utter dizzyness. Get three bottles of wine,save your legs and get an equally wobbly head.

Seriously though you can measure a length in your garden of 5,10,50 yards if you're posh (in which case have your butler do it...) and as Max has said,walk the distance wrapping it around the banksticks,or kids if they'll stand still long enough....

or do what i do when someones walking down the lane wait till there about 300yards away (hes only got small legs) from the gates then tie the line to the dog and let him run down to em when he starts barking (about 30 yards to go )snatch the line so he doesnt get to close with there being no stretch the job's done lol
or work out how many turns of your spool is 1 yard then x that by 170 job done again

cheers for the tips guys, i managed to work out how many turns was a yard, and 500m equaly over the three reels there was about 2yrds left on the spool
