Lee,
Is the reel new? I've felt a few new 'uns and they feel as you say somewhat stiff,this is usually due to the grease inside to lube the cogs/gears. They havea habit of slapping excessive amounts in at times to compensate for rain etc which will in time dilute the grease and make it thinner and possibly seep. Bare with it for now if it is new,it will loosen up.However,take care if opening up the side plate,one bouncy spring can fly an amazing distance and then you WILL need to return it to the Felindre for repair...
