Aqua gear aint a patch on what it used to be, not saying its true but someone I trust reckons a lot of there bivvy's are now made abroad, If I compare the finish on my ultralite to that of my original aqua dome its sounds quite believable.
Anyone thinking of getting a "mozzy" model, I advice them to av a rethink, as the wind gets between the mesh and velcro over panel and makes an annoying slapping sound which keeps you awake. Go for the none mozzie, wish I had

Right spoke to Neil smith who didnt really want to know, basicly he kept saying that i didnt pay full price for it so what did i expect, told him what bets said about them exchanging his, then asked me how much he paid for it ??, all he would do was have it back and look at it, so its going back next Monday and i will wait and see what happens, i dont see what i paid for it has to do with it i didnt pay for a bivvy with holes or a patch on it, that wasnt in the description. Any way i will keep you informed of the out come.

Aqua were a Fantastic company when it was at Stapely and Chris was there every day I could not fault their Gear. I have an original 1 and half man Dome and it puts most of todays gear in the shade also got the original dillo and its Fantastic.

But as all Companys that get larger and larger things deteriorate and they will never get back to the way they used to the brands just too big now so as with most large companys it seems they have lost the " personal " touch.

Good luck with it mate.

I also have the original armadilo and its performed brilliant over the years,i would buy an aqua one again because of the quality, i would'nt buy a seconds one tho because you just dont no what you are gettin for your money.Where as if you pay full price then you should'nt have any problem taking it back if you were not happy with product.

Yeah i think you might be right now, but when the description it as just 12 months old and only missing its ground sheet and complete with 6 months garentee thats what you should get, it is still their product and being sold buy them, that is why i went ahead and bought it because i felt reasured by the fact that it was Aqua selling it and not a third party.

Just a thought mate but it could be a Bivvy thats come back to them from a customer and they have just dropped a patch on it and knocked it out to you for a quick profit!

Your right matey price has nothing to do with it,they should have known what shape the bivvy was in before they sent it and if it was damaged in transit surely they could claim from the courier

I got £50 off the full price on a mozzi mk3 and was told where/what the fault was before I ordered it bud.The patch they had applied wasn't the neatest of jobs tbh but as it was out of sight I wasn't too bothered and could have lived with it.When I saw the the repair on the roof, I saw my **** as they hadn't told me about it and I wouldn't have bought a bivvy with a weakspot in such a dodgy area.

At the end of the day you've ended up with a faulty item, if you are not happy for them to patch it tell them, you could ask for them to replace it for another seconds that you are happy with (if they have one in stock) or accept a refund.

The bivvy they sent me as a replacement has 3 small crescent shaped singe marks on a seam where the heat sealer was left on the tape for too long, all off them are hard to spot and didnt need patches so I was happy to take it.
If they do offer a replacement ask them to take pictures and email to you before you agree to anything

The lads at the factory will prob remember who I am lol... the first phone call they got was in a stern tone pointing out my dissapointment I think I also mentioned my statutory rights, then I pestered them daily till they sorted it (girl power)

Not sure how this stacks up though having bought a second that must have been faulty anyway

How would you term "good as new" with a bivvy, watertight is the only thing that springs to mind and if they offer you the same warranty as new

Get your money back, or if the difference was £50 as Bet's was then pay the difference and get a new one.

When an item is offered for sale, the description must be accurate....in the first post philc said that it was a seconds, as the groundsheet was missing and that there was no mention of any other damage.

In fairness to Aqua this may well be how it left them. It's the quality of the repair that's in question now m'lud

Either way, solution is take the refund, exchange for another second if they have one, pay the difference for new. Not much more Aqua can do, no consolation to Phil having wanted a good bivvy at a good price but at least he will be no worse off financially and can shop elsewhere
