Default Sensor and knot strength

I use daiwa sensor line and for the money its pretty good. However after landing a fish on it if they have taken me through any weed beds or occasionally near to snags the knot strength seems to be a bit low..It is usually ok if I strip a few yards off and I always use a four turn grinner. Anyone else have any thoughts on this..Its never let me down though in some demanding situations but sometimes I do worry about the lines ability to take some serious stick.

no never as I never tie it to anything other than leadcore leaders unless I am floater fishing then I usually freeline and tie direct to the hook and always pass it through once only. Like I say its never let me down but the knots will sometimes snap at what seems like a low point so I usually end up tying it a few times until I am happy..

That is the whole idea behind using Daiwa Sensor-change it regularly cos its like netto toilet roll,ie you get a thousand yards but its only good for one wipe,so to speak...

Whereas your Synergy/GR60 types of line are more from the andrex velvet stable, expensive but built to last the course,a true testimony to the quality versus quantity theory...

True I never had any problems when I was on Big Game but I know plenty of the lads use sensor and some of em do a lot more sessions than me(like smokey who uses sensor)...and probably catch more ..lol...

i use 10lb sensor and havent had a prob with it. i use a palamor knot to tie it to my leadcore. i think that knots such as the grinner clinch more than the palamor so if your in a bit of a hairy fight and have to apply alot of pressure then the knot just tightens more and slightly weakens.

My own opinion after using sensor for one session is its crap.It cost me two good fish in hit and hold situations so off it came and on with the Trilene(the dogs danglies). As for knots double up the grinner its far stronger.

Sensor isnt all that bad but it does weaken a bit like I said initially but its never let me down except once when it snapped but I was fishing with a very tight clutch next to the snags. I think I will go back on Big Game after xmas as it is by far the best line I have ever used...

I have used it before mate... But I notice there is two types the one that says trilene on it and the other which just says Big Game I have used both and to be honest no matter what happens you rarely have to strip yards off the spool to reach 'good' line again like i usually do with the sensor if they take me through the weed or a snag. Cheers
Dean.

I too use Sensor but I have used even cheaper lines in the past like Brent or Golden Marlin that you used to be able to get via Angling Times. They were a bit difficult to manage but were tough as anything on the market.

It doesn't matter what line I used, if I had a fish and it went through a few snags I would strip a couple of rod lengths off and start afresh. Whether it looked damaged or not I would strip some off just to be sure. I would do the same if my line cost £5 or £20 per spool.

By adopting that rule I was always happy to use lines costing a fraction of your GR60 or Maximas.
