That is the whole idea behind using Daiwa Sensor-change it regularly cos its like netto toilet roll,ie you get a thousand yards but its only good for one wipe,so to speak...
Whereas your Synergy/GR60 types of line are more from the andrex velvet stable, expensive but built to last the course,a true testimony to the quality versus quantity theory...

i use 10lb sensor and havent had a prob with it. i use a palamor knot to tie it to my leadcore. i think that knots such as the grinner clinch more than the palamor so if your in a bit of a hairy fight and have to apply alot of pressure then the knot just tightens more and slightly weakens.

Sensor isnt all that bad but it does weaken a bit like I said initially but its never let me down except once when it snapped but I was fishing with a very tight clutch next to the snags. I think I will go back on Big Game after xmas as it is by far the best line I have ever used...

But I notice there is two types the one that says trilene on it and the other which just says Big Game I have used both and to be honest no matter what happens you rarely have to strip yards off the spool to reach 'good' line again like i usually do with the sensor if they take me through the weed or a snag. I too use Sensor but I have used even cheaper lines in the past like Brent or Golden Marlin that you used to be able to get via Angling Times. They were a bit difficult to manage but were tough as anything on the market.
It doesn't matter what line I used, if I had a fish and it went through a few snags I would strip a couple of rod lengths off and start afresh. Whether it looked damaged or not I would strip some off just to be sure. I would do the same if my line cost £5 or £20 per spool. By adopting that rule I was always happy to use lines costing a fraction of your GR60 or Maximas. |
