Remember reading Jim Gibbinson (I think) testing knot strengths with sensor and he recommended using a three turn grinner as oppposed to a four or five turn. His knots were also tied once through the eye.

you been doing a lot of blanking then....Cos I will tell you once the line has seen some serious action from sizeable carp it does deteriorate considerably....mind you its probably a case of you get what you pay for...for the extra 3 quid its gonna be Big Game again for me!!!...

But hey if your happy with it Stig keep on using it....its not the worst line for the money...

I have used Sensor a lot and to be honest I have had a mixed experience. I have had no problems in clear water or fishing to snags. Spooled up with 15lb for weedy work it was fine until I decided that it needed changing. Using the fresh line I had a known big common all but beaten when it decided to try some marginal lilies for size. I have been in the same situation countless times and as long as the hook hold is sound it is just a formality.

Keep a direct line to the fish let it have its little plod around and then gently lead it back out into the waiting net. No panicking no trying to heave it away from the pads just gentle persuasion is all that is needed.

It was while doing this, and with the line under very little tension it all fell slack. My automatic reaction was that the hook had pulled. Upon investigating I was gob smacked to learn that the line had parted. It was perfectly clear that the line had broken well under breaking strain so I concluded that I had purchased a dodgy spool.

I purchased a new spool of sensor this time buying from a shop that I knew for a fact had recently been out of stock. Armed with a new spool that I knew for a fact had not been sat on a shelf for a year or two my confidence was restored. That was until I lost a high20-low30 mirror in the exact circumstances as above.

Irrationally instead of binning it, for some mad reason I decided to give the clear a run out and I have been using the clear ever since without a problem.

Poor batch, crap line, bad quality control, unlucky, clears better than brown?

I do not know, but one thing that is for sure I will never use the brown again and the clear is still on probation. First sign of problems with the clear and it will be the last sensor I buy.
