I tend to use about 3 foot from the swivel and korda clip to the main line. I use the needle knot to connect to the man line so its straight as anything incase of a snap. To connect to the swivel i strip back 3inches and bring it back inside itself. Glue on both knots too!

You MUST make sure that your Korda clip or lead attachment can pass over to the main line without any obstructons though.

go into your local tackle shop mate, see if anyone there can show you how to splice one up, they should put you in the right direction pal, once you know it's easy, it's a bit fiddaly to start with but you'l get the hang of it, the main thing is not to force it...ooo er missuz, the gentler you handle it, the easier it is, i use lead core for all of my fishing, i don't use a needle not, i think the needle knot's probably the strongest, but i tie a realy small loop at the mainline end and blood knot the mainline to the loop, and at the link end, tie a largeer loop, enough to get a 16mm bait through, i love the ease of whitch you can change rigs, i normaly use 3 feet
all the best pal

i use a simple palomar knot to the swivel and a neeldle knot to the leadcore........

NEEDLE KNOT

Thread mainline through a needle........
renmove 2 inches of lead out of leadcore..........
thread needle through hollow and out through the side of the leadcore 1 1/2 inches down......
remove needle...........
make a loop in mainline and hold it..............
wrap mainline round leadcore ten times..............
pass tag end of mainline through loop you are holding.............
wet and bed down slowly................
pulling from the rod end of the mainline.............

very tidy and most leadclips i have used will pass over even when using 18lb mono

Needle knot is good but splicing is much quicker and allows you to change rigs etc much easier on the bank. Regardless of knot the most critical aspect is to ensure that the lead can pass over any knot and will come free if you break off a fish

i stopped using spliced loops as i found them unreliable and i struggled to get the lead clip over them

I too had always used spliced loops on my leadcore but a mate showed me the needle knot a couple of weeks ago and I will be using it to attach the core to my mainline from now on. seems much neaterThreading a leadclip over the loop has cost me dear in the bait needle departmentand worried me enough to make me switch to a semi fixed running lead system so I know the lead can be ditched with minimal effort.Crafty tip - Save all of ur bits of lead and use them to coil tightly around braid rigs,it pins em down nicely

i use leadcore a lot, the way i do it is.. remove about five inches of lead and tie on a swivel using a five turn grinner knot, then thred down a lead clip or whatever.... then attach to main line using the needle knot as per instructions on pack(kryston). i attach my rig by tying a figure of 8 loop and just loop it through the swivel loop to loop sort of thing hope you understand.. think i confused myself there.

I dont agree with the use of leadclips with leadcore at all. Now this is just my opinion so please no one take offence. But how can a rig that leaves a fish trailing feet of 45lb leadcore be demand as safe? Kneedle knot is excellent when used with a helicopter rig, leave only the hooklink in a fish rather than leadcore and the lot.
Just thought i would air that so people can make up there minds when using leadcore.

Helicopters arn't completely safe mate, leadcore easily becomes tangled thus the hooklink cannot come off. I don't believe a fish trailing leadcore is anymore dangerous than a fish trailing the same length of mainline its not like a carp can snap 15lb line or even 12.

It all comes down to using them safely a making sure you do your very best to not leave a fsh trailing
