Default braid or mono what do you use and why?

i no its always been a big discusion and always will be but what are your thoughts on this? and what are your reasons for them? also what brands etc do you use and why and what experiance with other lines have you had that you can comment on?

iv used diawa sensor for years and love it and for mono i would never change it but recently i brought a spool of fox submerge braid only used it ounce not sure what i think of it yet its my first time fishing with braid so just trying it out seeing how it goes... what are your views on this have any of you used fox submerge before and what do you think of it?

used nash bullet braid. awesome
sinks like a brick.
only problem i found with briad was if you cast into a tree your either bringing the whole tree back with you or you gna have to cut the line. as i never ever managed to snap some trying to pull for a break.
not the best casting line as it was so heavy you could literally feel it falling through the air. but loved using it.
now using floro as i feel its a good comprimise between the two.
playing your first fish on it is certainly a hair riser!
and diffenitly dont strike into a fish. gently ease into it and that is enough to set the hook!

used the old fox submerge for a few years and never had any problems with it whatsoever not used the new stuff so can`t really rate it but would`nt have thought it was much different to the original stuff.would definately prefer to use braid but its been banned on the waters i fish so had to begrudgingly go back to mono

also wundering what your views are on how visible the braid is in the water im using 12lb BS and when out on the bank last weekend found that the swans saw it very easily in the edge which quickly made me put backleads on do you think its more visible in the water than mono? and do you braid users out there backlead or not?

i wasent sure because of how heavy the braid was is backleading would change the outcome of the linelay on the bootom of the lake but in the end decided to put them on to make cover all eventualitys

yeah same as the water i fish is really clear i always use a leadcore leader and gnd generally keep it quite long as to pin down as much as possible and also using backleads will help

braid i feel is very much more visible in water than mono.
luckily the water i was using it on was very silty and the dark coloured braid blended in.
but then again look at jim shelley he uses nash bullet braid n it certainly dont stop him catching where ever he goes

I sometimes use Fox Gravitron in 20lb which is great to cast, no problems with wind knots so long as you dunk your spool in water for a few minutes. I would use it in lakes with silty or sandy bottoms but it is prone to cut offs on rocky / flinty lake beds. I have used Nash Bullet braid but that felt like waxy string and it was a nightmare to cast any distance. I have more recently started using Gardener GT 80 line and my opinion of it is that its the best line I have ever used. The reason for trying out this line was that I was getting loads of hooks opening out using braid as the takes are absolutley savage.
The GT 80 casts like a dream, is very supple but tough as old boots.
Regards Teekay
