Never tried the flying back leads. I think it's 'cus I dont like the idea of them being always attatched to my line. On the lake Im fishing at the moment, there's somtimes a big chuck involved and Im worried they may decrease distance.

I'm just using the small bullet type at the mo and they havent affected my range so far
,I would prefer to be able to slip them off the line if necessary. I saw a pic of the new korda flying leads but I'd have to see one first hand to decide whether they would affect my range or not.

If you hooked a fish at distance though, wouldn't you have a strange angle in your line where the fylin' back hung? Thats the only thing I dont like about normal back leads, the way they hang on your line, then loiter around your tip ring until they eventually do a death slide down your line and prang into your lead clip!

I use backleads nearly all the time except in weedy waters. the lead should pull off if snagged so never result in a lost fish.
Ive had some flying backleads in my tackle box for about 10 years and still never used them. To restrictive on longer casts. |

Never really tried flying backlads, try to stay away from all types of backleads(mainly normal and captive) as the water im fishing at the moment;there could be anything in between your rod tip and the lead... you see so many people backleading and having runs only for it all to drop slack by the time they have got to the rod and then stand there and scratch there heads then do the same again.
Will have to have a go of these flying ones one day Chris |

Sounds serious potential to be a death rig, how does the lead break free if you crack off above the stop knot??

but surely the stop knot will have the back lead up against it so even a large bore lead is going to fail to get over that ?? Most people ive seen useing lead clips push the rubber on to far, therefore the lead wont discharge, when the clip pulls out of the swivel and travels up the broken line it will hit the backlead and will be stuck. Same would happen with a helecopter the back bead and rig would travel up the line but not be able to pass over the flying backlead and stop knot. If you can show me a diagram of a safe version then ill have it but its sounds dodgy. |
