Default kordas new clip

i have just started using the odd lead clip here and there to see if it helps me in any way ive gone for the lockjaws from armalead, now ive seen all the clips on the market since they first came out and i must say i think the new korda ones look dangerous to me if were going to use leadcore (which i dont) personal preferance then i get the feeling from looking at them you would have to tie it to the extended swivel wouldnt you causeing what i beleive to be a very bad rig as it could end up teathering the fish if you crack off or the line seperates for some reason. persoanlly i will never use any of the korda stuff as im a big fan of another company and i am appauled to see that mr fairbrass would allow such an item as he in his words "thinks the carps safty is paramount and if it doesnt look safe i wouldnt use it" id like to ask the man himself if he thinks this looks safe for a carp to be trailing about with 4 foot of line or leadcore around with it through snags wnad what not because i dont. i think hes talks from his preverbial. sorry if this offends anybody but thanks

For people that dont know what the lead clip looks like

New korda leadclips.JPG

To be honest i cant see danny fairbrass doing that though mate. I think this probably helps the tail rubber come off, and if you think about it, its the same with the locjaws because they dont slide off the line do they they just make it easier for the lead to come off.

Default lead clips

Quite right matt there still seems a little confusion as to how and why lead clips should be used. there have been plenty of articles in the press of late on how to set these up so if anyones not quite sure then may i sugest you do a bit of research and learn the best ways to fish these set ups.
a recent incident has left me in no doubt as to the effectivness of fixed swivel lead clips as i recently accidentaly had a birds nest and cracked off a 'live rig'. next day this trailer was caught by a pike angler when it swam through his line, complete with hooklink and my line. the lead clip had done its job and dumped the lead and the fish a common and i'm told of almost 30lb! was unhooked and safely returned to the water. without a doubt if the lead and clip had come away from the swivel this could have slid down my line and would have tangled in the birds nest leaving the fish to tow both hooklink rig and quite a bit of line with a 4 oz lead attached a prime candidate for getting snagged. accidents can and do happen but with all set ups dumping the lead wether with a lead clip or dumping the lot i.e with a helicopter set up so you just have the hooklink is the best option imo.

Has anyone seen the new clip that Rig Marole have developed, it has a slot in the side, from the looks of it, when the rubber slides off the tail end, it leaves the clip and lead free to fall off.
I plan to give the carprus ones a go, but was slightly annoyed when I got the clips out to use and found that the 5 mm rings needed for assembly weren't included in the pack

90% of my fishing consists ofinline leads with arounnd 2Ft of esp sinking tubing without any leadcore just straight through to 12lb pro gold mainline and the fox leads i use have a soft rubber insert so its easier to pull free in the case of a crack off or the line parting on a rock or mussel.5% may be used on heli rigs on the same principle, the other 5% is a size 5 esp raptor hook with either a paice of bread flake or half a boillie tied straight to the mainline. i posted the coment on as i have been playing around with clips of most of the companys that sell these items and will most definatly stick to what i feel comfortable using its safe that way plus its done the business for over 18 years.

Cyprinid Products in shropshire have a decent clip available to go with the whole range of lead products. You get 10 safety clips with the 10 rig rubbers and 10 swivels that perfectly fit to effect all included in the pack for only £5.00.
A pic is atached. If anyone is interested pm me. P&P for each pack is 99p anywhere uk mainland. Or can be picked up from me at my address if your passing through.
Regards Bill
