Default Daiwa or Shimano?

Good morning!

I am in somewhat of a quandry as to which big pit reels to go for when my monthly paycheck comes through.

Could the audience give their valued thoughts and opinions on the choices available. I am interested in either Shimano or Daiwa and nothing else due to both companies having excellent reputations.

With my Timperley tours being fully booked up at present I have precious little time to spare for my angling and do not wish to be stuck with broken inferior tackle preventing me from my hobby.

Thank you.

Shimano for me, heard to many horror stories about dodgy daiwa reels.

Lowey.

shimano`s had all the daiwa`s and not a patch on them.destroyed a 6000 tourniment shredded the gears.ultegra`s the big baitrunners or if you can afford them the techniums believe there bringing a new one out with the same baitrunner system as the ultegra`s.

If its any help I have used the new Ultegra xsa's for nearly 12 months and they are superb. Clutch is a dream, line lay is mint, built really well etc...

ive still got and use diawa 4500's from 10 years ago and i also use shimano 10'000s.both sets of reels have never let me down but im swayed with diawa cos the bait runner switch goes down when hitting a fish rather than up on the shimano's

I would be swayed towards the diawas as they have always built quality. If your pay packet has enough in get the top of the range, buy cheap, buy twice imo.
