I'm thinking of getting some (not the plus 50's, the old version) but have been told to go one test curve heavier than the one I desire as there a bit soft. I was going to get the 2 3/4lb tests but have been told to go for the 3's. Has anyone used these rods and is the above statement correct????

I've got them and used them home and in France now for 4 yrs, can't praise them highly enough. Had no problems with breakages etc and still feel as good as when I first got them.

Suppose it depends upon what you are comparing them against whether you think that they are soft or not, only thing that I would say is that if you fish big pva bags or bags at range then go for a heavier test curve as I wouldn't do any more than a lob with pva bags (can still fish 40-50 yds ok).

With a 3oz lead and 12lb line then 100yds is not too difficult to hit, they have handled good fish at this range and close in with ease.

If you don't fish extreme ranges or big pva bags then you won't go far wrong with them

ive got the 12" 3 1/2 tc ..............top quality rods.........lovely at range and very good when a fish is under the rod tip.................... loads of stopping power for those hit n hold situations too..................

I havent given them the proper big one yet (havnt fished anywhere big enought !) but hitting 120 is reasonably easy

How much are you after paying? You can get some deals on them now, I've seen them on offer with a Shimano 10000xte for £199, that's cheap as chips.

Even if you don't want the reels, you could Ebay them off and get £150 back, which leaves you paying £125 for each rod, bargain I'd say.
