Had a play with the new shimano baitrunners today. Seem like a decent bit of kit and wouldn't mind purchasing a pair if my budget can stretch that far!!

long Casts are nice reels but they were are a bit too heavy so mine are now relegated to spod and marker work and the power aero 10000xtes have replaced them.
Excellent line lay, superb clutch, very fast retrieve rate and pretty light.
Plus the front b/runner system is spot on.
A much better reel imo

Default Reels

Daiwa Emblem Z5000T.

The grey/blue ones that they stopped making about 7-8 years ago. They were replaced, as so many things seem to be these days, with an inferior version. You don't see many about these days unfortunately.

6 BBs and very, very smooth. The size is just nice for all but the biggest chucks. In between a "big pit" and a standard baitrunner sized reel.

Shimano Long Casts aren't bad but not a patch on Diawa Infinities. Infinities are more compact, lighter and shinier....and you get a free spool which is a nice bonus.
10k's are the best shimano reel if you're spending a sensible amount of cash, the long casts are a fashion gimmick with an un necessarily beefy handle. Weigh a tonne to play fish on also.
