effectiveness leadcore

safety silicone tubing

depens on the situation for me and the rig i am using, for example if i am using a running lead and a barbless hook i feel is safe to use leadcore, if not i would use silicon tubing

Thumbs up Leadcore

If used correctly leadcore is very safe if it is spliced correctly and NOT tied onto the mainline with a knot then I can see no problems using it with either
leadclips
Helicopter setup
Running rigs
A good splice will only be marginally thicker than the unspliced leadcore and any beads used in a helicopter/chod setup should under pressure from a teathered fish come off leaving the fish trailing only the hooklink and no lead...using lead clips it should simply be a case of the lead being able to eject efficiently...as they do with most good leadclips. However with the leadclip setup I suppose you could argue that the fish will be trailing a length of leadcore..which is not ideal. The benefits of leadcore though in both keeping the rig as close to the bottom as possible (bottom contours allowing) and aiding in landing fish when fishing to snags does outweigh this IMO...although others may disagree

Dont see what diference it makes wether it's tied on or spliced etc, especially when used with the korda lead clip. You can have the biggest knot in the world sat at the top of your leadcore, the lead however is still going to come free via the lead clip if tethered.

Silicone tubing for me, i admit to being unsure as to safely using leadcore, so i've steered clear of it. However having read about the benefits of using it perhaps i should enlist some help and learn !

Leadcore from Korda with the Korda lead clip. As safe as tubing (if not safer IMO!) with the benefit of it lying flat on the deck (hopefully)

leadcore or no leader at all for me. having seen how tubing looks on the bottom i'll never use it again. plus leadcore is just as safe as tubing if used correctly

Leadcore, only used with a helicopter setup. IMHO using it with leadclips is dangerous and should be banned!
