Default Maver Abyss TF 9007 Reel

Has anyone had any experience with these reels? I am looking for a decent set of big pit reels with a baitrunner. They are very nice looking reel with similar features to the much more expensive options from shimano and Daiwa. I was looking at the sportsmatic's, but these seem to boast all the same features for less money. I know Maver aren't known for their carping gear, but they are slowly producing some quality gear, this reel has had some good reviews.

I have a Maver spod rod at the moment, it's casting action with a full spod is superb and you can really cover some water with it.

A link to the reel is below, I have found the reel for about £85 elsewhere.

Not had the opportunity to get a feel of one first hand, just read a few reports and checked out the tech spec's. First impressions are it looks like a good reel, if they doubled the price more people would buy it as to alot of anglers the more it costs the better they look with it in their own minds.
I would sooner do some research and take it from there, I know the Sportsmatics are quality, as are the Shimano big pit's. Just wanting to see if this cheaper option is really worth taking.

Not being a fan at all of boats and bait boats, I prefare to have the option of being able to cast good distances on some waters should I need it, and a decent reel is just as important as a good rod.

I am looking to upgrade my gear over the winter, 3 new x-flites and 3 new reels are top of the list. I will sell off my Prod's and Emcasts to put some money towards them.

Cheers for the reply, yeah I looked at them. The spec on the Maver seems a little higher, plus I dont really like the feel of the xta's. The Maver seems to be of a similar spec to the sportsmatic which is a reel I rate highly, nearly as high as the price is

Just found a few offers I like. The new x-flite are out so the old ones will be going cheap, even so it's still a good deal. Getting the rod for £100 basically

GREYS X FLITE CARP 12ft 3lb TC ROD
SHIMANO BIG PIT LONGCAST
£225.00
