personally a lot of the mats, although offering superb protection, are no good for my angling because I can't carry them. They're fine if you can use a barrow, but large carrying handles are a must.

I'm not keen on polyball mats at all.
For me it must be a deep foam fill and made of a material that is not the smooth pvc sort.
Ie: the fish musn't slide easily when on it. Some of the old mats were a nightmare with a fish literally sliding on it's own if mat wasn't perfectly level!
Add some big carry handles I can get over my head and I'm happy!

the nash monster mat ( foam one ) was good... and I've recently seen the new wychwood one that also looks decent.

p.s. smokey
angry could actually lap the aqua northern mat quite easily needed another mat underneath!

I'm currently using a quantum mat it's massive and well padded a little bulky but that's not a problem. I am on the look out for a nix mat so if you no anyone with one for sale drop me a pm.

Mate have you seen the new Nash cradle that's on a trampoline like set up - would be similar to the ones you used at Cuttle Mill
