Default korda hooks

Just wondered what everybody thinks of the korda widegapes. I know on other forums they have an exteremly bad reputation. I haven't had any problems with them yet, fingers crossed.
thanks,
Will

I wouldn't touch em with a barge pole. Had em snap on me once and bend out a couple of times. That was on a runs water aswell I don't like any hook in the korda range but thats just my opinion.

I have had quite a few decent fish on them without problems. I have been told they straighten easily so im having second thoughts.

I dont like the korda wide gapes the inturned point doesnt fill me with confidence. I've never had a korda go on me but my mate wheezy lost a good fish recently when a longshank x snapped on the bend. I've recently started using centurion 2000's they are the stongest hooks i've found and are sharper than kordas imo

Swapped over onto them this season and had no probs at all

Not lost any fish on them and last time out had 3 fish on the same hook

Still sticky sharp and no bends to report dispite landing them in trees and lillys

Dont even know which make most of my hooks are all i know is they are forged and damn strong never had 1 straighten on me ever .Not one of the modern day paterns though as i just sorted myself some hooks out from the loads my dad used to have he just had em in boxes and packets saying the size long or short shank and forged or bronzed .

i use the esp raptors and have had no probs, i also use drennan super specialists and have also had no problems.
i dont think you need to buy the top name brands as the cheaper 1s work just as well!

I'll second the drennan super specialists...I've had some nice fish on em in real snaggy areas and for a lightish hook you really can give em some welly...plus they're very sharp and very cheap

But why havnt companies come up with matt coated hooks ?
All hooks seem to have this coating that when in shallow water becomes really reflective ?

Does anybody know how to matt/dull the hooks down ?

I've been using the kordas for the last year or so now and cant fault them. Pulled a 25lb carp through a load of weed on a size 8 wide gape with no problem, and they stay sharp for ages!! I think the longshank x are great too and have never had any probs with them damaging fish or anything.
