i use and would recommend the the primus omni fuel mate it gives you the option of both so you can take a gas cannister for back up instead of carting spare petrol with you , its not the cheapest but its very compact and reliable

Thumbs up

Only use gas myself now but did use the Coleman Sportster for many years and a top bit of kit it was.

The reason I changed back to gas was I got fed up carrying petrol about with me - the constant smell of it - plus getting it on you hands when fueling up no no no. Oh and if the fuel container fell over and leaked

OK in winter a petrol stove will work far more efficiently than a gas stove but hay wait an extra few Min's to boil the kettle and save all the hassle of carrying petrol about, that's for me now

If you want the best then the Optimus Nova is highly regarded as just that amongst campers and expeditionists and has won countless awards to.

I have no personal experience of this product but if i was going back to petrol then i wouldnt consider anything else.

Optimus - Optimus Nova+

Don't do it!!!!

Petrol is smelly, greasy and VOLITILE! The amount of times I have sat and watched the flames shooting up and singeing eyebrows! Quality!

This was probably due to usiung "forecourt unleaded" causing the genny to soot up, while these stoves go under the dbious title of "dual fuel" in reality they should only be used with the Coleman Fuel which is much more refined than normal petrol.
