Default travelling abroad by air

Right here's a good one for you.....need to transport 2x4 piice 12' rods 2xalarms 4xbanksticks 2xbigpits and hangers etc, would like to have them all in a hard protective case completely seperate from all the other stuff that I'm taking.......must be impervious to airline baggage handlers and must be lockable......any ideas...been looking on the web but all I can find are rod tubes which won't hold the other stuff......rifle cases look good but they are generally too thin.....any idea's guys.....want to store all this stuff in my flat whilst I am at work so need to keep it all in one place.

Explorer Cases : 13527 waterproof case

You want something like that, but a touch longer.

Bit pricey mind!

Yeah I don't mind paying up to £100 for a real nice one aluminium .....maybe a keyboard flight case, looking through fleabay at the moment, the alternative is that I'd have to seperate every thing and that means lots of luggage....was trying to bring it down to 2 cases one for my gear and one for the fishing gear.....want to turn up at the water and look like James Bond....or maybe Brooke Bond

This is what you need mate its designed for the job ands spot on. Lockable, Wont bend or break, airline approved and the only way the baggage handlers can damage it is if they drive over it!!!

Search - Specialist Fishing Tackle from Leslies of Luton Ltd.

Looks about the right size (but without measuring the longest part of the 4 piece rods which maybe slightly longer than 36" because of the joints) also looking at the picture looks like it may be made out of fibreboard which isn't the strongest material......but I see where you are coming from.......will measure one of my guitar cases tonight to see if a reel will go in it.....that may well be the answer.....can get a polypropylene case for about £50 then rip the inside out of it......all good idea's though lads!

i had a hard suitcase with an aluminiun frame cost me about £130.....first time I used it I went to Milan from Manchester....when I picked it up it was smashed out of shape and one of the feet had gone....looks like they had it on a truck and then hit an immovable objet....it sprung back into shape again but it only goes to show that if it can be done the animals who work as baggage handlers will either nick it or trash it.......won't even start telling you about what they did to an electric guitar when I went to Tunisia a few years ago!!!!

I know what you mean mate - Had a freind that worked at Manchester..you dont want to know!!!! But on a seriuos note if its Airline Approved it does get treated with a little bit more care as they are well tested so if it turns up bent in half they have a lot of explaining to do.

Anywell good luck and enjoy the trip.
