Going to work in Romania soon going to take some 4 piece rods ally bank sticks and buy some cheap alarms......to leave over there all the time.....so what are reasonable big pit reels which are cheap enough not to worry about losing?
Must have a reasonable clutch....any idea's chaps?

Think I have found the ones which fit the bill.......Okuma Powerliners....and they are 40 each from Erics with 2 spools....can't get cheaper than that RRP is 80......anybody know anything about them?......bear in mind I use XTB's at home, just want a cheap reel that I can abuse for a couple of years

a bought a couple of cheep big pits from stapeley for around 30quid each from leeda i think. they are great reels for the money and i've abused them spodding and markering away and they've handled it brilliantly. the drags seem very smooth and good and a proper bargain. a spool for braid and a spool for mono included. the only slight draw back is the handle which is monstrous but for the money only a aesthetic prob.

Actually bought 3 of them about a year ago 7500's looked ok but had a cheapish feel to them......gave them to my brother when he started carping....dohhh!!!....now need to buy more reels.....see that's what generosity does for you.......the Okuma's have supposedly 7 bb's so they should be smoother than the mitchels also they have a faster retrieve speed.....has anybody actually handled the Okuma's.....I've only seen pictures up to yet.....the other option would be shimano aerlex 7000's which are 42 at Erics with line!....whatdoIdowhatdoIdo

Only Okuma I own is the "Sheffield" and that's a completely different kettle of fish altogether... Not sure of the ethics of this but here goes, have a look here. I didn't read it all but it's a tackle review from another site (sorry Julian)... The Maggotdrowner's Forum - I will never buy another Shimano Baitrunner!
