Same here always found him to be Spot on and dead straight does what he says and the works great..Hence my previuos post as I really cant see Colin deciding to start work on a 170 Per Rod Job without the Customers say so and if he has then I cant understand Why or What he is up to?

Let me explain....took rods in told him what I wanted....he said I'll phone you with the price.....he phoned said £170....I baulked at the price and said ok I'll have them back.....he said that he had taken the handles off to measure the blank......so they would need replacing anyway......downgraded the job £137 and said ok carry on......15 minutes later after I'd though about it (remember I'm at work during these phone calls and dead busy) I phone him back and say forget just put some handles back on......he says that now he has removed the rings.....(I know he has a workshop at home and that he is in the shop)......so regretfully I say carry on.....but I am not happy and the more I think about the more I am certain that I have been conned........do you understand now!

Well then its his own fault for starting without getting the price agreed with the customer

So I would be tempted to say as the price was not agreed and you started work without my agreement I now want you to put the Rods back in the Condition they were when they were left with you and any costs incurred are down to him. Because if a Garage were in the same predicament they would have to bear the cost of any unauthorised work carried out without the customers consent.

So I think you have good grounds to complain. Dont know whats up with him as I said prev he is normally spot on..looks like he is losing it!!!

I've known him for well over 20 years....and he has been getting worse....think it's down to money worries and spending too much time all alone in that shop.......regardless I probably will just pay for the rods take them and walk out....I'll let him know I'm not happy (in fact he already knows that) and never return to the shop.....he's lost all credability with me.....this thread will have done some damage to his reputation so thats as much as i want to do....at the end of the day the aggro is greater than the money......life is far too short!

Its just a shame too see a Shop that used to be spot on going down this road..But as you say he is sat around a lot and seen the ££££ and jumped in but you would think that the least he could do would be to drop the price for you and at least that way he is keeping his rep intact. Anyway good luck with em when you get them back.

Default Scorpions

Alright Woody,

The blanks were sprayed the burgundy colour. The eyes were 40mm butt to 12mm tip. The transfer was of a Scorpion with "hand built by Alan Young" underneath the Scorpion. There was also something above it but I'm f ucked if can remember what it was. The graphics were all in Gold.

Hope this helps

A couple of months ago I was looking around for the best place to get my Amorphous rods rebuilt ( Trev's Originals ).

Was told about Collin and looked at his web site and all looked well. Then a few good friends warned me that he was very expensive and did not produce the quality finish that he used to.

After reeding this thread how glad am I that I did not take my rods to him.

I have not been able to get my rods rebuilt yet due to time and cost but I know where I will be able to get them done now

£170 a rod for a rebuild hes having a laugh pal

I would not pay it, no way. like it has been said you can but a top custom made rod for a few quid more. Dig you heals in and argue the toss with him mate

SCROLL DOWN THE PAGE, THIS WILL GIVE YOU AN IDEA OF HOW MUCH A STRIP AND REBUILD SHOULD COST.

Custom Rods | Rod Making Services

PS. A friend did two of my rods three years a go for £50 the pair. Did an excellent job, and no, sorry, he won't be doing any more in the near future.

Nearly forgot. Woody, your ballistas and tamers are all through action rods, as is the big pit (harrison) rod, you will find that the torrix are that bit stiffer, but not poker stiff like some rods of that test curve.
Only seen one, in 3.25 test. Nice!

had a look and choosing the dearest option it comes to £131, so looks like I've been ripped of by a minimum of £40 per rod......and if I were to choose cheaper rings that price would come down by another £15.....therefore total rip off....of £108......totally p+'*ssed off by the whole issue.......Let this be a warning to all you chaps out there!

Well I think there is a lesson there for everyone -

Make sure you tell the Shop that they are not to undertake any work until you have agreed on a price that your prepared to pay. That way there can be no mistakes etc.
