Ahem...Hope you dont class my input as waffle?? i couldnt care less what Terminator/Callum spend their hard earned on, and as for Stig's 2'peneth well, i'm lost for words!
Terminator asked the question as to what he fancied doing and I put across my point that this 'rods almost touching' practice 'could' potentially cause a problem where a carp could be put in a dangerous situation because of vanity.
I'm sure Woody that you dont have your reels clattering together on the rests because they are too close, you're older than that (no offence intended) and have no doubt been through the 'sheep' phase of your angling life, a well trodden path that no doubt we all have strayed onto from time to time.
Its all about advice and I personally think Terminator has got it wrong and needed telling of the error of his ways, not in a nasty 'avin a dig' way but as constructive criticism.
Lets hope that nobody comes on asking for advice on 'playing chicken with trains' or 'fingernail chopping with a machete!' Would people be so quick to offer positive advice then (from the questioners point of view that is) I can see it now 'wait till you see the whites of the drivers eyes' or 'a machete is boys stuff, I use an axe!'
If you want sticks and buzzbars for life thats simple, just buy Solar/Matrix etc and make sure your 3 rod buzzbar is at least a 12" version, 15" is even better.

I publically apologise for any missunderstanding regarding my posting on this subject....and I am not going to say any more about it....now if somebody can come up with a way of getting SS for the price of Aluminiun.....actually I thik I have......have a look at this Newmill Fishing Ltd Bison Buzz Bars
I have bought some of this just to see what it is like.....2 mini extendable buzz bars 4 6" bank sticks and 2 24" sticks......came to buttons ...it's obviously not premier division stainless but for the money it's really good....and those extending buzbars would allow you to have anything that you wanted in the way of set ups........see what I nice bloke I am?

Call me crazy but does this not happen every time one of us grinning goons poses for a portrait with some hapless cyprinid?

I really don't get this at all?

What's the point of shortening a piece of steel by an inch?

To get you rods closer together?

Really serves no useful purpose at all does it?

They'll be a thread about what the optimum distance your bivvy should be from your rods, give or take an inch

I don't get the folding reel handles back either??? Seems like your making more work for yourself when you get a run?

It's a bit like setting you landing net up and putting it three pegs away.

one thing i have noticed is that none of you use splash mats under your pretty reels ,buzz bars ,alarms and hangers ...........call yourselves tackle tarts ...........you don't know the meaning of the words:roll eyes:
but then you would all wonder how long it should be and wonder whether it should be as long as the rod butt or not

actually I have a set of 3 free spirit 12foot 31/4 4 piece carp tamers .....I like them because I can hide my entire set up in the boot of my car....dead handy as I work away from home and go fishing 2 or three times per week in the evening.....keeps me out of the pub and the hotel room.........actually like them in their own right....very through action with a nice soft top....just bought another 3 of the 2 piece variety...the new x wrap in 2 3/4 lovely rods at what i consider a cheap price.....anyway i digress the point was there is actually a case for scaling down the amount of tackle (in size) in some cases.....bit off topic I know......I'll post a picture some time......you'd be amazed how small it all is.... I use one of the very small FS quivers and a telescopic landing net handle and an old sod pod

And do the handles and bail arms foul each other??? if you say no your full of BS. I've got 6" and 7" buzz bars and ony just get away without the handle on the left hand reel not snagging up on the right hand reel
