Default Which Lead System??

Just wondered what lead set up you use??? Do you use Lead Clips,Inlines,Running Rig etc............. And why do you favour them??? I personally use lead clips for 90% of my fishing and have just switched to the fox version and they are bang on!!! They have a softer sleeve than any others i have seen and come off with no problem, which i havent found with one or two others ive tried. So thats why i favour them because they can release the lead when enough pressure is applied.

Most of my fishing over the last few month has been in weed, so i have been using safety clips or inline where the lead can fall of on the strike so you can have direct contact with the fish hence less change of it snaging in weed.

Buts thats just due to circumstances, if fishing open water i am happy to use running leads and different setups.

Cool Nash Lead clips

I like the nash lead clips they have A pin that goes through the swivel

And the rubbers soft like the fox ones

I have been useing new camo difusion ones with the tubing that matches

Blends in with the lake bed and sinks well to

The clip also has A little notch to stop the lead coming off on the cast

but comes staight off in weed

Looks like s--t out the water but in its Mint

Tight lines

Have used the fox lead clips as well and the lead drops every time with almost every fish, though have started thinking whether leaving 2, 3 or sometimes 4oz behind is always necessary and if we haven't fallen into the trap of clever marketing

At £1.20 for a lead that should last years to be left on the bottom to then need replacing must be a bonus for Korda and the likes lead sales, plus it can't be too good for the lake in general with pounds and pounds of lead on the bottom surely

Am now back on the Fox safety leads, are like a tadpole rubber and the lead is fixed onto a large bore ring so will come free if snagged or snapped, or in-lines which pull through weed ok anyway.

I'm using the fox lead clips and I'm having to use PVA tape to stop me from losing my leads on the cast.

Try a helicopter rig mate if your fishing will allow it.I got fed up of losing leads with the clips on every take(never lost one on a cast with armaled clips). As long as its practical try heli or inlines, think of the money on leads that could buy more bait

As long as the weed isnt horrendous I think helis will be fine, never had a problem with a chod rig which is just a heli really

Lead loss is something that has reared its head up on several occasions, does plastic coating (which if the boffins are correct is non biodegradeable) prevent the lead inner from slowly dissolving/breaking down or will it not hinder the inevitable toxic pollution from all of our ditched distance leads?

Fish safety is obviously paramount but surely so is the evident problem of kilo's of lead being left in lakes/ ponds? It all kicked of a while back on FW with regard to this, Korda were approached via email and makes for an interesting read.

Is there an alternative to lead which is as dense and safe when deposited? Korda have cleverly planted the seed of 'tis better to lose a lead than lose a fish' into the masses and I agree to a point, if it means losing a fish in a snag, the leads gone anyway so why risk it? But on open pits I see no reason to needlessly dump lead when an inline or heli rig will suffice...

How about a captive backlead type arrangement- tie 85 yards of leadcore to your lead clipped lead and upon screaming take the lead is dumped, then it can be retrieved for re use afterwards... er ok forget that, too much vodka.

I posted a link to some rubber bands recently which in conjunction with a clip made a good safe alternative to lead, if distance fishing was not vital. A bag of gardening pebbles was the substitute for lead and I see no reason why it wouldn't work, cheaper than £1.20 a chuck too...!

Running inline lead with a back stop for most of my fishing as I find I get more Runs as less resistance and its 100% safe in the event of a snap or cut off.

spot on mate
i stopped using the fox clips for that exact reason,
for my fishing i dont see the need to eject the weight on every take
so i went back the the korda ones

i fish mainly with lead clips or inlines, usually one on each rod

Not realy pal just got it cheep. lol

I dont like looseing the lead every time you hook and land A fish

This may sound mad exept for weed I think if the lead stays on it keeps the hook in better

Had it A few times where the lead has come off to easy and not set the hook and the fish fell off

Much better if it stays on exept for weed
