Ive just brought a fuji film Z1, and im well impressed with it, very simple to use, 5.1 mega pixel, a nice 2.5 inch lcd screen and the photos are quality. £150
worth every penny. you will find one on the net somewhere if you look on goooooooooogle, or ebay,

Rockinruss try this website good advice reviews and prices
http://www.cameras.co.uk/ like the others have said Canon EOS digital, or the Fuji finepix are very good some of them, the S range finepix are almost like an SLR but not as dear on some of them the viewfinder looks through or gives the same image as the lense for composing your shot a great advantage in bright sunlight also you can view your picture through the viewfinder in bright sunlight when you can't see it properly on the screen. |

What ever your budget, always go for a camera from a manufacturer known for there lens quality, the lenses on digitals are so small that to get good pictures the lens has to be perfect, my old Olympus 1.3 mega pixel takes better pictures than any 5 mega pixel Fuji or Kodak, and my new 5 mega pixel Olympus make the Fuji / Kodak’s etc, look so bad you wont believe the difference!
As I said stick with a manufacturer with a known track record for lenses, no matter how many pixels, if you stick a bottle bottom in front then you will get rubbish pictures, Olympus, Cannon, Contax etc are the ones to go for.

My first Digi was the olympus MJU 400 (4.1 mP) I choose it because the camera is contained in a weatherproof body so if its raining you can take a pic no probs. I read somewhere water and digis dont get on. Ive just upgraded to a olympus mju 600 (6 mega Pixs) and got it new off ebay for £84 plus postage! Has a much bigger LCD but unlike the first model no infra remote button so I now work on a 12 second timer, which is more than long enough for me. Still with the weatherproof body.

Snap matey, I too have an mju600, one of the reasons I bought it was for the weatherproof body, don't want your camera not working due to the damp or rain
Also it has a rechargeable battery which saves a fortune Loads of features as well to take pics in almost any situation we're likely to face
