cheap blanks though mate, compared to the cost of the x flite blanks (£24 )

id suggest youve paid a mark up of over £150 fo them rods, greys can 'afford' for you to swap them when you like

Yeh that would be my only point, how much it costs for the rods to be made, it's easily done to offer a lifetime gurantee!

But and the end of the day, so long as you are happy with your rods then thats the best thing, we ain't going to be using them so it's however you feel.

Best of Luck and may they bring you a PB.....

PS................well-tarty

I'd be really suprised if anyone had any accurate 'inside info' on the price of buying/producing blanks in bulk -without actually being near to the management of a rod making business.

I think most people would agree that, quality wise, Greys are up there with Century, Free Spirit etc. therefore even if Greys are making a huge margin on their rods - so then are rest. For Greys to give their products a lifetime gurantee then, is to me, a really generous offer - who else does this?

Hope you enjoy using, and (carefree) abusing them!

Good choice, hope you get a few on 'em. If they are better than the x-flites then they are a serious bit of kit

Agree with Mul, you are paying for more than the blank with factory built rods. If the blanks are £25 at cost, rings, reel, trimmings etc probably another £35, total £60 at cost for the parts. £40 at cost to assemble, may not be too far off with cost of £100 for Grey's to make the rod. Have then got Grey's profit, 100% mark up isn't unusual (this is only 50% profit on cost to manufacture) and then the tackle shops slice. If Grey's and other companies are to invest in future development then they need to be profitable to do this and survive, and also to back up their warranty.

I would suggest that when bought in bulk no matter how great you think your rods are the carbon blanks cost very little per unit otherwise it would be pontless in the rodmakers being in business would it.

Blank + rings + handle materials + whippings + lacquer finish + labour + transport (at every stage)

the first 5 items the manufacterer of which have to make their profit ,then the rod makers have to make their profit and finally the retailer has to make a profit so after everyone has made their own slice of profit(inc transporters) HOW MUCH DO YOU THINK THE BLANKS COST FOR YOUR RODS?????

( in raw materials only probably about a Quid)
