Default freezer baits how long ?

how long do you reckon you can keep freezer baits stored before they lose their effectiveness ?

have had baits in my freezer for 6/7 months and caught no problem.don`t think i would be too keen to use anything that was over 12 months old though fella but thats my personal preference.

dont think they do lose there freshness do they mate i buy all my boilies at the start off the season then stick them in a chest freezer and use accordingly each session, and whatever i dont use buy the end of the season i tend to just keep them in the freezer, got a few bags from about 12 months ago but once thawed they are what i would consider fresh dont think freezer baits are affected whilst in the frozen stage may be wrong but i tend to treat them as my own food and if it smells wrong etc i bin it
but if i think it smells the doggs still then i use them mate

Give my nephew 10 kg of bait witch i bought back from a belgium trip, and they must have been in the freezer for at least a year and a half, and every time he went fishin he caught lol.As long as you dont keep takeing them out and then refreezin them they will be ok.Just try 2 take enough for your session,or if you are haveing your bait made up then ask 2 have some shelf life added...

Ive had toots and other flavours in the freezer for years and when i dig a bag out and use them .i catch no less than usual .

Until they breed a minus carp or fish a water without slimey bait thieves in it i cant catch any less ...lol

No seriously ive used boilies that are 4 years old and still caught on them

I remember quite a few years ago when going on a sesh on a syndicate I was fishing,I defrosted 3 kilos off Grange and when I got to the lake discovered that they were all starting to turn moldy
No bait no fishing,so I washed all the mould of in a bucket and used the bait.
the sesh i had turned out to be one off the best I had ever had at the time
Makes you think doesn't it,maybe there is something in it. Mould flavored baits.
By the way since then I always check my baits once defrosted.
Cheers Slim.

Yeah mate but doesn't it go all against the theory that the best bait is FRESH FRESH FRESH
Think about particles, tiger nuts seem to perform better once they have started to ferment.
Might be something in it but I'm not sure.

mainline tuutis always seem to be better than usual if you leave them for a few days they go all sticky as trhe natural sugars etc leak out of them and smell the doggs

Not totally convinced that fresh is best mate TBH.Two/three day seshes second nights often the best.

You do catch plenty of fish on fresh baits and I usually always take bait from the freezer and often it goes in still half frozen. But last year in particular I refroze some baits a few times that had been out for 2-3 days and they gave me some good seshes.

I think the fungi/bacteria may enhance the food signal given off from the bait in a natural cost free way.I am certainly considering purposely doing this more this year

But you have to be careful that the bait doesnt go completely off but then again even this might still be attractive to fish re:fermented particles
