Default Plastic baits.

Does anyone regularlally use the stuff?
Having tried plastic sweecorn/maize and never having so much as a line bite on the stuff over the last 2 yrs it was ready to be consigned to the bin.
Also tried the Enterprise fake bread ,last year, and never had a touch on it.
It was that bad even the ducks and Swans swam up to it and just high tailed it outta there!!.
Well the other night I was out fishing and noticed most of the Carp were swimming 2ft below the surface and occasionally rising to take the odd piece of floating bread before the ducks got to it.
Now thinking on I just happened to remember the piece of fake bread in the bottom of the bag so decided to zig rig it 2ft below the surface.
Bloody Hell, 10 seconds it was in the water before it shot off , was till setting the indicator on the rod and wondered why the ****in' thing would not stay down- The alarms were not turned on yet-.
Was only out for 3 hrs and ended up with 7 Carp
Anyway, went back the next night, as you do , and set up the same again.
Well to cut it short, It took me over 1 1/2 hrs to set up the second rod as the first zigged rod just kept going off!!
In 3 hrs I ended up with 14 Carp, 10 on the plastic bait and 4 on the bottom rod. Nothing big ,up to about 8lb, but it was a bit of fun though!!Looks like the plastic might be getting another go this year!

Funnily enough ive been with a friend of mine to a local lake tonight and he had two carp 15Lb 12oz and 10lb 6oz both on plastic baits Sweetcorn/Tiger Nut.

I know for a fact he has been on the Plastic Fantastic stuff for well over a year now and says he's well pleased with it.

I've had good results on the fake corn and pellets,I tried the fake bread the other week as a surface bait which didn't go down with the carp,I put it down to them spooking off the rubbery texture rather than a soggy piece of flake,I will definitely be tryng it again tho, prob as a pop up or a zig like you suggested I recently got some of the uv corn and seafood scented black corn to try over hemp. I think they're great,I glug them for added attraction.

It’s a bit of a leap of faith when switching to artificial baits, but trust me, it’s *well* worth doing. I started using them years ago, mainly to critically balance maize or corn rigs, and eventually thought what the hell, and tried two fake pieces – had fish from the off and have never looked back.

Think about it, if baited around natural corn (or whatever) it will look exactly the same, some even smell the same, and it won’t come of your hook or get nibbled away by roach and bream.

If you watch big carp feeding over particles, the second the get ‘into it’, then they just start mopping anything. The other bonus is that you can leave it for as long as it takes – though it’s not long usually.

I tend to use two fake pieces on a hair with a size 8 hook; one bottom, one pop-up to create a perfect critically balanced approach.

It’s all we use on Birch now – two grains of fake corn over hemp.

Below are a few Birch kippers - all taken on fake corn.

Maybe they’ll convince you it’s worth a go....

I use the fake corn where ever i go, its quality, the added bonus of giving it a good whack and even if the real corn comes off during cast, the artificial stuff is sure to stay on the hair. Try the pink corn with a boillie, it just adds that little bit of differntation, works for me

the Enterprise fake corn, yellow and glow in the dark, blue or green. Also brought out a bouyant one with a recess in the top to act as a boilie stop, but obviously you could use it to top off just about anything Check out the latest including a camouflaged rig made to look like corn resting on silkweed gotta get me some of those at http://www.enterprisetackle.co.uk/new.htm

Nothing wrong with the old plastic, first used it on Crabmill with my mate Rigmaster ,caught from the off fishing over hemp or redband with a few crushed tigers or grains of corn thrown in .We used two or three pieces of plastic corn on the hair popped up of the hook, you only need a tiny shot to balance it .We had fish to around 25 on it out of Crab [R.I.P.].
The first time we fished down Oxford we used the rubber maize, just a single piece on the hair.We balanced it by pushing lead wire that you strip from leadcore into it ,result 7 between us to 31+.The best i have had on fake is 35.12m caught on one of the 5mm pellets popped up off the hook fished in a solid p.v.a. bags with a bag mix of pellets and crumb.I know people who have tried plastic corn and pellets on other waters like Hawk and have just been breamed out,but on the right water the plastic will produce the goods...

I have been using artificial corn for donkeys now and have confidence in it everywhere i go , it always brings a bite when sometimes nothing else will. But i suppose it is a confidence factor. I have also used the pellet version but not done very good on that personally. For a added extra with your plastic baits try dipping it in a glug or additive with a pair of pliers or tweezers and keep squeezing it so it draws the flavour of attractent into the fake bait, you will be amazed by the results. tight lines
