boiling times

does anyone boil their own baits and if so can you help?im making a fishmeal/birdfood bait have fished it last 2 seasons but only in 10 or 14 mm now i need to stick it out a lot further looking to roll at 20 to25 mm how long do i boil for or can i add anything to harden the bait without boiling it to death

why not just harden them by a long period of air drying ? the baits will shrink down a touch but if you want they can be re-hydrated with lake water when you get on the bank giving you the extra weight for the extra range

i usually boil mine for two and a half minutes on a full boilie gun mix but the time may depend on the size of your pan.if you have to do it in two or three lots then make sure you re-boil the water you have allready used.its just trial and error matie good luck

i boil mine until they float then i scoop them out .i find that leaving them to dry for a good length of time (48 hours+) makes them go hard !!

then i put them in the freezer .........

as marker sed egg albumen will harden the baits although its not cheap i feel the best length toboil the bait is 1.5 to 2 miniuts as you dont want all the flavor and colour to be boiled out
