Default Freezer Baits

Sorry if this sounds stupid, but as i've never actually used freezer baits before i thought i'd better ask!! Just bought some mainline Active-8 frozen boilies for my session 2mo. I'm only planning on doing a 12hr day session and was wondering if i need to thaw out the boilies or anything before i use them or can they be used straight out the freezer and packet in the morning? I dont really know anything about using freezer baits as i've always used shelf-life in the past but want to start using freezer baits for their better food quality and hopefully tempt a few biger kippers!!

Cheers.

youi might be better air drying them for 12-24 hrs to harden them as they may be a bit soft if your planning to fish range

Personnaly i take a good handfull and put them in a sealable bag, add my glug of choice and put em back in freezer, these are then my hookbaits, and the rest are for freebies. Take my hookbaits (and enough freebies for the session) out the freezer on my way out the door and re-freeze my hookers when i get back home 2 days later, they seem to soak up the glug more every time i get them out m8, and it saves me a lot of money .

there's a chance they'le be thaw'd befor you get there in the morning depending on how far away your lake is, they normaly thaw out pritty quick...unless it's minus 4
it should be ok even if you bang it out semi frozen(imo) it al thaw!
my freezer bait's fairly moist if it's put in plastic, so an air drying bag's the order of the day for me, i just get the bait out on the morning i go and it's right by the time i'm fishing

i used Mainline freezer baits whilst in the AP 5C's and had not issues whacking them out 60-70yards from froze!

Mainline though are reputably soft baits, and therefore might be prone to falling apart giving it the biggun.. so as mentioned air dry a few hookbaits for a couple of days to harden them up a bit then give them some stick on the cast

always nice....

It usually takes me 40 mins or so to actually get fishing from leaving the house so hopefully they'll have thawed a bit by then!! I dont own an air dying bag but i have a few insulated method bugget bag things, do you think they'd be better kept in there during the session than the plastic bag they come in?

To be honest i very rarely use large amounts of boilies as i simply cant afford to!! Only bought a kilo bag which should be enough for my session 2mo as got plenty of pellets and other goodies!!

Take what i feel i will need from freezer as i am leaving the house.

Go fishing. They defrost very quickly a 20min journey will do it for them.

I do the same matey,I've used mainline frozens for a long time,I usually dont take anymore than a kilo for an overnighter any that are left go back in the freezer when I get back.I do put them in an airdry bag for the session tho as I think it helps them keep better,on a warm day in a plastic bag they sweat I find it makes them turn quicker and I hate waste Good luck

Hi james. i never defrost my baits, take em out the freezer just before i go out and they are usually still frozen on arrival but they defrost very quickly especially when they are in water.
I have 10 kilo bags of b5 in my chest freezer so just take a couple of kilos for an overnighter in a sealable poly bag.
