hey all
I have always pre baited on the waters i fish as i find in most cases it helps me to get amoungst the larger fish after time. I have read lots on the baiting pyramid and belive it works , but i would be interested to hear other peoples views , Has this tatic worked for your or against you , what bait did you uses and what amounts did you put in and at what time a year things like that . anything so that i can compare my own results to others , Thnx for any info supplied.......

prime example for me is on the Top Pool, knowing how weedy it can get i pre baited some pukka spots and one imparticular opposite the sticky swim on the edge of a set of pads ! kept it clean for quite a while with regular helpings of particle !
im sure the ducks would have some of it but it seemed like the fish liked it too as lost a fish on first day if fishing the swim awkward cast but it certainly helped me was putting in over 4 spots on average 4kilo a week for roughly 5 weeks twice a week and spring time was when mine went in
if i can get awy with prebaiting then i would do it on every water i could

I havn't done pyramid baiting but I reckon if we want astbury to be more productive I reckon we all start baiting it up regularly. It can only benefit us!!! I think

I believe a few takes have been on mb's snail and shell! However Im not 100% sure. I think people are using various baits to see what works. However mate Im no expert mate by a long way! I plan 2 fish a 24hr session on fri 17th on lazys. If any1s up for it?

pre baiting as worked for me in the past and hopefully will continue.
I think its all down to making an effort and going to the lake and putting bait in the rite places and not just anyware.
If done correctly you can have some outstanding results.
I favour baiting up with boilies but have had good results baiting with particles then fishing boilies 2 days later.

There are a few problems with pre baiting over any lenght of time in my opinion
Firstly, when i have undertaken a prebaiting campaign, its seems after a week or two to bring in every Tench and bream in the lake to that area most my better prebaiting results have come by baiting up a night or two before fishing
Secondly, It sort of gives you a idea of where to fish before actually going to the lake, instead of looking at the water, finding the fish, you end up going in the prebaited spot just because of the time and effort you have spent baiting

do you think it possible to perhaps tempt the fish to return to this spot on a regular basis and within this you reduce the amount of enfisis on spotting the fish {i dont mean ignor showing fish more to tempt them to you)

Me and my bro, had a load of success on wesport pre-baiting 3 years ago..80 fish between us from may to august/NRG.
Smokey:My bro used to fish the point at wesport...and the fish just kept returning to the spot. All down to pre-baitin through the week and fishing the spot at the weekends.

Think your spot on, if you bait up regular the fish will recognise this as a food source just as they would a natural larder and keep returning, saving you the trouble of finding them!! Think of it as as like a match angler building up his/her swim, just over a longer period of time

Ok guys we have coverd the single spot area..lets take a look at the bigger picture , i when pre baiting a water i try to use a bait that has not been used on the water b4.. So every couple of days i will take 100 baits or so and just walk around the water sticken it out all over the place , the reason behind this is that no matter where the carp visit they will always see a little bit of my food source BUT they will also remember where the largest quantity is (my tight baited patch) and return for there regular feed.....
so can anyone add anymore to this cycle that cud up my chance anythin else i shud be doin but am not..
Thanks for your input guy

in my opinion if you can get enough of it and there are big stocks of fish, i dont think you can really put too much in.... after all how much is taken by bream, tench, tufties, coots etc 200 baits in that size venue isnt a lot.
If you can , try and work out how long it takes for the bait to rot off and float. If you know this and you are finding it you know you are putting too much in. Try talking to your supplier and see if they have info on rotting baits.

The bait i use is totaly natural , wil chuck a few in the edge to see how long it takes to go a bit off ?? there are tench and bream in the water , so i opted to go to 18m baits just to help a little..hhmm will check that out phill , your right cheers

Just something that came to mind lads.
When i was in Belgium there were some dutch lads fishing before us, they were coming off the place, naturally, we spoke to them before we kicked in. They had made a video with underwater camera etc. You would not believe what they did. Out near the middle of the lake there is a bar (only one in the lake) they found the clear spot the (rest had weed around) and filled it full of tigers boilies etc.. absolutely covered it it, was like a mountain when they finished, they then had the camera focused on this point and watched as the carp came in and demolished all the mountain totally hoovered it up, within 12 hours everything had gone. Needless to say they kept coming back for more except this time there were hooks on the end of the baits. Sorry to bore you but you have to see it to believe it!
